casio solar battery life
I have a Casio G Shock watch model MT-G. I was of the understanding that this watch is both solar and………

battery powered. And the life expentancy of the battery is in the region of 10 years. When I woke up this morning, the watch did not display the time, instead there is the word “charging” flashing on and off. I use the led light occassionaly, ie to check the time when its, but nothing excessively. I certainly expected more life from the battery. Iv owned the watch for about a year. Does anyone know how long it takes to recharge itself? Its been charging all day long.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you

You need to make sure that it gets sunlight. When you are outside in the daylight make sure the face of the watch gets around 5 to 10 minutes of light every few days so that it can charge the battery. You have an indicator on the left side of the screen which informs you of the level of charge the battery has. If you sleep all day and just are awake you can simply charge it under a strong light inside and leave it there for 10 mins every few days. If this doesn’t work then there something wrong with your battery and you should send it in to get the battery fixed. I have one of those watches and my indicator has never gone below the middle range. Good Luck.

water treatment plant jobs
at my work my boss is having me do a job im not certified for, can he fire me if I refuse or mess that job up?

I work at a restaurant that has a water treatment plant, my boss recently promoted me to maintenance. He is having me maintain the plant and restaurant, “and I’m not certified to do so in the water plant.” He told me when I got the job that if I mess anything up in the plant I will be fired. He also didn’t inform me that I have to be certified, I learned that from a former employee. Basically what I’m asking is can I refuse to work the water plant and still keep my maintenance job in the restaurant, and not be fired?

Sounds like your boss is cheap – doesn’t want to pay the going wage to get someone who is certified to do that work.

Employment is “at will” so if you don’t do the tasks you are assigned, you can be fired.

If you make a stink about this, and leave your current job – it may be hard to find another job because of a bad reference from this boss.

Check with the manufacturer and determine what is required to become certified. Then approach your boss to see if the company will pay for this training.

If things do not work out, and you feel like the boss is setting you up to take the blame if there are any problems with the water treatment plant – then contact your state’s Department of Labor & Industry. They should have a Labor Law division. You can contact them and they will work to resolve the dispute with your employers. But consider this as a last opinion.

I used to do computer software installation. Each employee had to sign forms stating we would abide by all laws governing computer software use and distribution or we agreed to termination. My manager would tell me to install my copy of software on our customers computers so they would not have to buy copies. This is a copyright violation and carries a federal fine of $100,000 per occurrence and up to 5 years in federal prison. And when you install the software the new computer copies the serial number of the software. So it could be tracked back to my copy of the software. I refused. So he got another employee to do it and I was told never to ask questions. But at evaluation time, I was told I was difficult to work with. I never got another promotion. The employee who did it, got promoted over me.
