water well dowsing
Do you believe that dowsing for water is fake?

In someone else’s answer here in Religion and Spirituality to a question about Ouija boards, the person mentioned a belief that dowsing for water was just a superstition.

There’s an awful lot of farmers out Texas way who believe otherwise.
Are all these farmers gullible, and pay for a dowser when they could find water by drilling anywhere?
Drilling a well is expensive if you have to go very far down.
What are your thoughts on this?

No. Seen it done by a friend, he works for BP (the Oil company). He’s a geologist and uses lots of unusual methods to find water/oil/gas etc

Solar energy workshops for home owners US/UK/Australia?

I am new to alternative energy. I have relatives in these countries i live in Colorado and others in California/Michigan/Texas or any other states.

We all saw an Inconvenient truth documentary and thought that we should start going green at our homes.

Can anyone tell me about–

- workshops for solar energy
- where to get cheap solar panels or photovoltaic cells
- President Obama’s policy on alternative energy
- Wind energy Vs Solar Energy

Also how much solar energy would be required for one family home?
(or link to solar energy calculator)
Also do you know about anyone who is using solar energy and how is it going?

thanks!

Which is the highest quality water cooler/dispenser?

Hi. We’ve used water coolers in our home for years. The most recent one we got is made by SunBeam. It’s considered a pretty good model, but it’s super noisy (all day). An electrician said that an inferior water cooler will make loud and frequent fanning or running noises because it’s not well insulated and it constantly has to heat and cool the water. Also, i hate it because the water spouts are a couple of cm’s too close to the cooler wall, so it’s awkward to fill up a big pot or your water bottle.

What is the best cooler I can get for up a moderate price? Price is not really a huge issue, but i’d rather not spend $850 on a water cooler. I’m looking for quietness, good layout (ie, spouts are not too close to the machine; space for big pots), and stainless steel design if possible.

the culligan niagara brands are highly rated.
