best water heater temperature setting
Is this not a good way to use a water heater, assuming it stores enough hot water to meet all demands?

The best way to set the thermostat on a 40 gallon water heater would be to leave it at 10 degrees Fahrenheit above body temperature until laundry day and then temporarily raise it for the laundry to “instant scalding” temperature (155 degree Fahrenheit). When laundry is done turn it back to 110 Fahrenheit.

GE and other appliance companies say that extremely hot water isn’t good for most clothes. This is why they started putting temperature sensors in them to regulate the temperature to around 112 degrees when you select HOT. You can override this on some models by selecting sanitize or very hot if you like to wash with very hot water.

Dishwashers on the other hand needs very hot water. I like to see it over 130 degrees for people who use a dishwasher.

In any case to answer your question turning the thermostat up and down shouldn’t hurt the water heater and may save some money on electric bill.

best water bottle filter
Lots of TV health shows recommend drinking bottled or filtered water. Which is best and why not tap water?

Tap water has chlorine and a few other minerals added to make it safe to go from the well to your faucet. Only thing is chlorine isn’t the best thing to put in your system. As the other replies said filtering your water is best. While filters will not purify your water. They will remove the purifying agents.
Paul Harvey used to promote one of the water filter companies nad he would say whatever you do do not get your water without chlorine in it. And whatever you do do not drink the water with the chlorine in it… Remove it with this filter… Be sure though and check to make sure the water filter does remove the chlorine…
And the other reply about the bottled water being filtered brings to mind a few years ago Coca Cola’s brand of bottled water Dasani came under fire by the French I believe because they found out it was not spring water from some mountain top or valley. Someone finally read the label where it plain as day says this is filtered water…
