How can I get my home insurance to cover my recent “flooding” after our sump pump broke?

Recently our sump pump broke during a big rain storm and our basement was flooded with over 6 inches of water. The cost to repair everything (nevermind our personal belongings) has been way beyond our flood insurance coverage of $5000. How can I get our insurance to cover our losses since the problem was the sump pump breaking not just the rain storms causing flooding? Right?

“Flood” is excluded under every homeowners policy. If you read your policy, the coverage for water damage specifically excludes coverage for sump pump failure.

You’d need to put the coverage in on your FLOOD insurance policy, if you carry it. Keep in mind, flood insurance doesn’t cover contents stored in your basement, only STRUCTURES.

You flat out can’t get your homeowners policy to pay for something that isn’t covered. It’s like going to a car lot, paying for a Hyundai, and complaining that you didn’t get a Ferrari. Sorry.

Why should I love myself when I look like this?

I am a female with a full beard, so it’s natural for me to hold my chin down to minimize ppl from seeing my chin and neck. I keep my head to the ground.It’s affecting my entire life. I used to be pretty and self confident, now I’m hairy and it;’s distgusting to even look at me…let alon be me. I hate myself.
I have polycystic ovaries.
Once I came outside in some shorts and a shirt to check the mail my sister 16 told me to go in the house cuase I look bad and nasty. My clothes where clean and so was my body and hair. She just said cuz I’ve gained weight I look nasty. It’s true. I wear a size 18 now and lost my hourglass figure. I just know people think I’ve thrown myself away. Why should I care, with polycystic ovaries it only get worse. Do u guys have any tips, have u been in this situation or a similar one before?

First, you have to remember that no matter how bad things may be, they can ALWAYS get worse. My sister in law has PCOS so I know what you’re talking about, not feeling good about yourself. She’s self conscious about even acting like a girl, but she’s the best friend I’ve got. Don’t listen to what other people say; live to make yourself happy because you’re the one living your life, and the only one who can make it worth while. Why were you self confident before? Was it because you were pretty, or for other reasons? So you shave. Big deal, you’re still the same person, with the same interests and convictions. The same heart beats in your chest. You are you, and no matter what you look like, you are brimming with beauty when you believe in yourself as a person.
