water conservation plans
I need egg drop ideas?

I teach high school physics, and we’re currently working on collisions, conservation of momentum, and that sort of thing. I talked my department head into ordering a water balloon slingshot and am planning on having an egg-catapult (like an egg drop, but we’re shooting it across the soccer field instead of just dropping it). Anyway, I don’t want it to be impossible for their eggs to survive, but I don’t want it to be easy, either. What kind of rules should I put on their containers? Size/weight/materials/etc? Any ideas would be appreciated!

is should probably weigh less than 2.5 pounds and cant have any reverse propulsion system ( rockets, etc.) and some ideas would be a cage that has little springs that each connect to a different part of the egg and wenn it lands the springs that get pushed compress and the other springs get tensioned
