If you wish you could learn to make solar panels for your own home, well I know how you feel. About a year ago I really wanted to do something that would help save some of that money I was pouring down the “energy bill” drain, and at the same time I wanted to feel good about doing something good for the environment and our planet.

I wasn’t a “greenie” or a hippie or anything, but I thought if I could learn how to make solar panels at home, I would really be doing a good thing, as well as saving some money, and it would be time put to good use.

I began doing some research and found out some great useful things. So I do hope this page will help readers out and get you started on the right track.

Why Should You Make Solar Panels?

solar power for a perfect alternative energy sourceWhy go solar? Well, solar energy is by far the most popular source of renewable energy. It’s also the fastest growing industry within the different renewable energy options. Learning how to make solar panels will get you on to the “green train”, and that’s a great place to be.

Before I wrote this article I decided to do some quick research to see what’s happening right now in the world in regard to solar power. Here’s what I found:

www.nasdaq.com – ‘Advanced Energy Industries’ have announced a further $20 Million order from ‘Centratherm Photovoltaics’ for solar cell applications. The solar energy trend continues to grow.

www.cnn.com – In 5 years, all new homes built in the United Kingdom must be zero carbon homes. Solar energy is helping achieve that.

www.foxnews.com – Even the White House is installing them. Yes even the President has decided to go solar!

The Problems With Retail Solar Panels Installation

solar cells mounted on roofSolar power is a great way to go, but there are two major things that scare many people off.

1/ THE COST OF SOLAR PANELS AND INSTALLATION

If you use a retail provider, it will most likely cost over $20,000 to be fitted out with panels which will provide the energy needed to run your house. Some homes will cost up to $30,000 or more to change over.

Most people simply can not justify that kind of cost. Even if it was affordable, the energy savings would take many, many years to pay for itself.

2/ DIY SOLAR PANELS ARE WAY TOO DIFFICULT AND COMPLICATED TO BUILD – AREN’T THEY?

Most people wouldn’t dare consider making their own because they believe it’s just too difficult. They think you would surely need to be an engineer to even dare attempt the jo

The Truth About Making DIY Solar Panels

do it yourself solar powerActually there are thousands of people making their own DIY solar panels, and saving a fortune in the process. I’m not talking about saving half the normal cost either, I mean they are making panels for as little as 1% – 2% of the normal cost of installing retail panels.

It absolutely blew my mind when I found out just how much I would  actually save.

Here’s the thing, if they can do it, so can I. And if I can do it, then so can you! I’ve never been a handyman, I’ve pretty much got two left hands (so my wife says) but I really wanted to do this. I thought this was something truly worth doing.

Unfortunately I started out the hard way. I spent many hours on youtube, and reading hundreds of blogs and websites, trying to piece together how to make solar panels myself.

What I found was tons of scattered, unorganized information with lots of gaps and conflicting information. My first attempts were quite poor and not very successful but I put it down to experience.

I wanted to avoid buying a guide, thinking that would be an unnecessary cost. But then I wised up and thought, why should I try and save a few lousy bucks when this project will save me around $20,000 if I do it right! Duh!!

Finally – I Started Learning How To Make Solar Panels

energy from the sunActually I found three guides and I bought them all. I thought that if one had missing information, or was less than crystal clear about anything, the other guides would help fill the gap, and vice versa.

But what I found was that one of the guides had it all. It had everything the other two guides had and more, leaving no gaps or uncertainty or questions. It was really the perfect blueprint for DIY solar panels.

With all the facts, guidance and VIDEO instructions right there at my fingertips, I finally got down to business. I was surprised to find it was actually fun and even easy. Once I could see that each step was clearly set out for me, it took all the stress out of it.

The guide showed me how to calculate just how much power I needed for my home, and exactly how many solar cells and panels I would need to produce it.

DIY Home Solar Panels – Continuous Renewable Energy

I was then able to refurbish them easily and create my own fully operational solar power system. The guide made it all easy.

Next step was making the panels. I joined the solar cells in series on a plywood backing which I finished with the right weather proof coating. I joined the cells with a simple soldering technique that the guide explained beautifully. Then I covered the panel with a glass top which I sealed with silicone for protection against the weather.

I installed the panels on the roof and used a charge controller to connect them to a battery. Finally I used an inverter to connect them to the house breaker.

Does it sounds complicated? I’m sure it does the way I explain it!  That’s because I’m using words that I didn’t even know existed before I started this! But this brilliant guide made it so simple, It really gave me the confidence I needed to go ahead with the project and do a fantasic job. Now I’m even helping my neighbor set up solar energy for his home.

save the planetWhen I look back now I feel immense pride with what I’ve been able to achieve. I didn’t think I could do it at first, but with the right guidance it was easy and surprisingly enjoyable. I’m also learning how to build myself a wind turbine now which is also fully explained in this guide.

Honestly, I don’t often finish things that I start, but on this occasion I did and I have to tell you, it feels so good. My wife is immensely proud of me as well, she loves telling people about it, and we both are so happy that our energy bills are now slashed down to a small fraction of what they were.

Another great benefit that I didn’t even consider was that it has significantly increased the value of my house. This has been confirmed by my Realtor!

I also believe there is a way to feed excess power back into the grid and actually make good money selling power! I’m still learning about that.

If you’re ready to “go green” and do something good for both yourself and the environment, and to save a lot of money while doing it, I couldn’t recommend this amazing complete guide on how to make solar panels highly enough.

Green Living Habits For A Better Way Of Life

Each and every year our Earth is becoming more and more contaminated. People who have decided to begin trying to save the planet have been switching over to green living habits as a better way of life. The option to switch to a green living way of life is something individuals have to choose for themselves. Some people feel that leading a green lifestyle is an awful choice, and this is because of all the radicals that give green living a bad rap. There are numerous ways you can live green without excess or overdoing it and becoming a fanatic. If you wish to begin following a greener way of life, you don’t need to start utilizing natural resources for your heat and electricity. If you opt to start leading a green lifestyle, you can begin by taking little steps; you don’t have to do everything immediately. These things can be easily taught to children so it becomes automatic and natural for them to do.

Green Living Habits You Can Start With

go green living habitsBelow you will find some quick steps to help you started. Typical light bulbs use more electricity and they don’t last as long as fluorescent bulbs, so you could begin by switching your light bulb choice. Although computers have become a tool that majority of people use, a laptop or notebook consumes a lot less energy than your desktop computer does. If you’re not watching television, turn it off rather than leaving it on anyway. If you turn off an appliance and you still see a light on, just unplug it because that light is consuming power.

Reduce Consumption Of Fuels

The green movement is huge on cutting down on fuel use, so keep your cars in good shape, and keep your driving to a minimum. Perform all of the regular maintenance along with having your tires properly inflated. When you are stopped in traffic, turn off your car engine since more fuel is burned while your vehicle is idling than when restarting.

You can actually save a great deal of heating fuel by simply lowering your thermostat a tad. Up to 10% savings with thermostat down just one degree. Pipes that are insulated can help save water, save money, and prevent pipes from freezing in the winter.

Cut Down Water Usage And Switch Chemical Products

Switch over to the new low flow shower heads, since you can get just as much pressure without using as much water. Using less water and chemical detergents when doing your laundry can be achieved by getting a new energy star rated washing machine. Make a switch to biodegradable and more greener and “Earth friendly” alternatives to replace your harmful cleaning products.

Recycling!

Many people’s desire to make money is likewise helping the planet and they don’t even realize it. Many people are into recycling, but their motive is simply to save money. It truly is easy for everyone to recycle and bring down our trash. How hard is it to reuse plastics, metals and paper products by taking them to a nearby recycling facility?

Used batteries can be reused, and your kitchen food wastes can be made into compost that you can use in a garden. Also by purchasing food which is locally grown, you can help reduce greenhouse gases, which are given off when trucks have to deliver food across the nation. If every last person on Earth planted a tree, it would help negate the extra carbon dioxide on Earth. The future of our planet can be reclaimed if we all would just take one little step in the “green living” direction.

Natural Health Alternatives

One thing that we all could do to begin living greener is to start utilizing natural cures and medications. If more people used natural herbal remedies and consumed more organic foods, they will discover that they will be fitter and they will be helping to lessen toxic waste created by making all these drugs. By adopting green living habits and taking tiny steps, such as recycling, you can help the planet for our future generations.

Wind Generators For Alternative Energy

Wind Generators Make An Excellent Alternative Green Energy Source!

Having an electric company produce your power is not so tough or pricey to set up. Lots of people don’t consider other options though costs are climbing. Having wind turbines to help generate power is a possibility but it is something a lot of people do not actually think about. Although it would be nice to enjoy all of the benefits of modern electricity coming from wind generators, and not having a monthly bill, most people are not prepared to take the step.

wind generators as power sourceApart from the first cost of installation, you don’t really have to pay for the power that is created from a wind powered generator. Putting together a wind turbine is getting more and more cost-effective as the cost to set up a wind turbine is falling. More and more people are trying out wind energy and the technology has made it better making it a commercial success. It’ll get to a point where putting in a wind powered generator is so low that you could readily leave the power grid. There are many reasons why people would like to get off the power company including environmental, personal and political reasons.

There are some folks who are worried about the impact the power company has on the environment while other folks fear the threat of a terrorist attack. It doesn’t matter what people’s reasons are, there is a growing movement to use wind energy as the primary source of electricity. As more folks purchase wind generators, the more profits the firms will have to improve the technology and to help bring costs down. There are a minimum of thirty states that offer tax incentives for homeowners who install energy saving devices in the home like wind generators. If you try putting together such a system, the government will pay approximately 50% of the cost for installation.

If you are still linked to the power grid and you create more electricity than you need, more than half of the states offer the ability for you to sell the power to the power companies. Without a lot of effort, you could get some money from the utility company instead of having to pay them. On the federal level, lawmakers are trying to find ways to provide tax bonuses for all fifty states. Germany and Japan already have these types of tax incentives put in place for their people.

Many power companies that purchase energy from folks are seeking to pay for wholesale prices rather than retail prices. Regardless of the program you opt to take part in, when it comes to sustainable energy, someone is not going to like it. You need to look at ways for you to not only cut costs but to become more self-reliant and be more concerned of the environment.
