How To Make Solar Panels
So You Want To Learn How To Make Solar Panels!
If you wish you could learn to make solar panels for your own home, well I know how you feel. About a year ago I really wanted to do something that would help save some of that money I was pouring down the “energy bill” drain, and at the same time I wanted to feel good about doing something good for the environment and our planet.
I wasn’t a “greenie” or a hippie or anything, but I thought if I could learn how to make solar panels at home, I would really be doing a good thing, as well as saving some money, and it would be time put to good use.
I began doing some research and found out some great useful things. So I do hope this page will help readers out and get you started on the right track.
Why Should You Make Solar Panels?
Why go solar? Well, solar energy is by far the most popular source of renewable energy. It’s also the fastest growing industry within the different renewable energy options. Learning how to make solar panels will get you on to the “green train”, and that’s a great place to be.
Before I wrote this article I decided to do some quick research to see what’s happening right now in the world in regard to solar power. Here’s what I found:
www.nasdaq.com – ‘Advanced Energy Industries’ have announced a further $20 Million order from ‘Centratherm Photovoltaics’ for solar cell applications. The solar energy trend continues to grow.
www.cnn.com – In 5 years, all new homes built in the United Kingdom must be zero carbon homes. Solar energy is helping achieve that.
www.foxnews.com – Even the White House is installing them. Yes even the President has decided to go solar!

The Problems With Retail Solar Panels Installation
Solar power is a great way to go, but there are two major things that scare many people off.
1/ THE COST OF SOLAR PANELS AND INSTALLATION
If you use a retail provider, it will most likely cost over $20,000 to be fitted out with panels which will provide the energy needed to run your house. Some homes will cost up to $30,000 or more to change over.
Most people simply can not justify that kind of cost. Even if it was affordable, the energy savings would take many, many years to pay for itself.
2/ DIY SOLAR PANELS ARE WAY TOO DIFFICULT AND COMPLICATED TO BUILD – AREN’T THEY?
Most people wouldn’t dare consider making their own because they believe it’s just too difficult. They think you would surely need to be an engineer to even dare attempt the jo
The Truth About Making DIY Solar Panels
Actually there are thousands of people making their own DIY solar panels, and saving a fortune in the process. I’m not talking about saving half the normal cost either, I mean they are making panels for as little as 1% – 2% of the normal cost of installing retail panels.
It absolutely blew my mind when I found out just how much I would actually save.
Here’s the thing, if they can do it, so can I. And if I can do it, then so can you! I’ve never been a handyman, I’ve pretty much got two left hands (so my wife says) but I really wanted to do this. I thought this was something truly worth doing.
Unfortunately I started out the hard way. I spent many hours on youtube, and reading hundreds of blogs and websites, trying to piece together how to make solar panels myself.
What I found was tons of scattered, unorganized information with lots of gaps and conflicting information. My first attempts were quite poor and not very successful but I put it down to experience.
I wanted to avoid buying a guide, thinking that would be an unnecessary cost. But then I wised up and thought, why should I try and save a few lousy bucks when this project will save me around $20,000 if I do it right! Duh!!

Finally – I Started Learning How To Make Solar Panels
Actually I found three guides and I bought them all. I thought that if one had missing information, or was less than crystal clear about anything, the other guides would help fill the gap, and vice versa.
But what I found was that one of the guides had it all. It had everything the other two guides had and more, leaving no gaps or uncertainty or questions. It was really the perfect blueprint for DIY solar panels.
With all the facts, guidance and VIDEO instructions right there at my fingertips, I finally got down to business. I was surprised to find it was actually fun and even easy. Once I could see that each step was clearly set out for me, it took all the stress out of it.
The guide showed me how to calculate just how much power I needed for my home, and exactly how many solar cells and panels I would need to produce it.
DIY Home Solar Panels – Continuous Renewable Energy
The guide showed me exactly how to make solar panels from start to finish. I followed all the instructions and was able to get cheap solar cells which had been rejected by the manufacturer for having minor flaws. I saved a nice little packet of money with that neat trick.
I was then able to refurbish them easily and create my own fully operational solar power system. The guide made it all easy.
Next step was making the panels. I joined the solar cells in series on a plywood backing which I finished with the right weather proof coating. I joined the cells with a simple soldering technique that the guide explained beautifully. Then I covered the panel with a glass top which I sealed with silicone for protection against the weather.
I installed the panels on the roof and used a charge controller to connect them to a battery. Finally I used an inverter to connect them to the house breaker.
Does it sounds complicated? I’m sure it does the way I explain it! That’s because I’m using words that I didn’t even know existed before I started this! But this brilliant guide made it so simple, It really gave me the confidence I needed to go ahead with the project and do a fantasic job. Now I’m even helping my neighbor set up solar energy for his home.

When I look back now I feel immense pride with what I’ve been able to achieve. I didn’t think I could do it at first, but with the right guidance it was easy and surprisingly enjoyable. I’m also learning how to build myself a wind turbine now which is also fully explained in this guide.
Honestly, I don’t often finish things that I start, but on this occasion I did and I have to tell you, it feels so good. My wife is immensely proud of me as well, she loves telling people about it, and we both are so happy that our energy bills are now slashed down to a small fraction of what they were.
Another great benefit that I didn’t even consider was that it has significantly increased the value of my house. This has been confirmed by my Realtor!
I also believe there is a way to feed excess power back into the grid and actually make good money selling power! I’m still learning about that.
If you’re ready to “go green” and do something good for both yourself and the environment, and to save a lot of money while doing it, I couldn’t recommend this amazing complete guide on how to make solar panels highly enough.
